Geminids Meteor Shower Spectacle:

One of the most awe-inspiring annual meteor showers, the Geminids, is gracing the UAE skies from now until December 24, reaching its anticipated peak on either Wednesday or Thursday.

Expected to unleash around 120 meteors hurtling through the heavens at an incredible speed of 125,528 kph, this celestial event promises a dazzling display.

Favorable Viewing Conditions:

Stargazers in the Emirates are hopeful for favorable weather conditions during the anticipated peak, offering enthusiasts an opportunity to witness this breathtaking phenomenon firsthand.

Dubai Astronomy Group Event:

The Dubai Astronomy Group is hosting a dedicated viewing event on December 14 at Al Qudra desert from 10 pm to 2 am.

The event includes telescope and camera phone observations of the skies, along with informative talks and Q&A sessions. Ticket prices range from Dh100 to Dh160, and registration can be done through the Dubai Astronomy Group’s website.

Evolution of the Geminids:

Originally observed in the 1800s with a modest display of 10 to 20 meteors, the Geminids have since evolved into one of Earth’s brightest and swiftest meteor showers, presenting a mesmerizing celestial spectacle, as noted by Nasa.
