Dubai Ambulance Sets New Benchmark with Record Response Time in 2023

A Milestone Year for Emergency Services in Dubai

The Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) has marked a remarkable achievement in its emergency response operations throughout 2023, handling over 235,000 emergencies and achieving a groundbreaking average response time of just 7.5 minutes. This performance represents a 13% improvement from the previous year and underscores the organization’s commitment to excellence and efficiency in providing critical care to the community.

His Excellency Awad Saghir Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DCAS, attributed this success to the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. Under his guidance, DCAS has emerged as a global frontrunner in ambulance and emergency medical services, with a core mission to safeguard the lives of Dubai’s residents and visitors.

Enhancements in Emergency Medical Services

In line with the Dubai Social Agenda 33, DCAS has focused on elevating the quality of pre-hospital medical care through the deployment of highly skilled professionals and the implementation of strategic projects. These initiatives have significantly contributed to the overall improvement of the emergency medical sector and the quality of life in Dubai.

Throughout 2023, DCAS reported handling 205,200 cases ranging from minor to critical, offering emergency transportation for 69,647 instances and providing on-site medical care for numerous other cases. Notably, the organization performed life-saving interventions for 90 individuals experiencing cardiac arrests, reflecting a 21% increase in cardiac resuscitation and life-saving operations compared to the year before.

Strategic Expansion and Specialized Services

To further enhance its reach and efficiency, DCAS introduced 12 new ambulance points across Dubai, expanding its network to 133 strategically located points. This expansion is in alignment with Dubai’s strategic urban plan, ensuring rapid response to the emirate’s growing needs.

DCAS distinguishes itself with specialized ambulance services tailored to the community’s diverse requirements. With a dedicated team of 1,375 emergency professionals working around the clock, the organization exemplifies commitment to public safety and health.

Empowerment and Community Engagement

Al Ketbi highlighted DCAS’s efforts in empowering women within the organization, aligning with the UAE’s vision for gender equality. Women now represent 21% of the corporation’s workforce.

In addition to its emergency services, DCAS played a pivotal role in covering 42 major events across Dubai, provided extensive training programs for both the government and private sectors, and conducted numerous awareness programs targeting various community groups.

Regulatory Excellence and Training Initiatives

DCAS also excels in regulating ambulance services in Dubai, having licensed 120 training centers and 62 healthcare facilities for ambulance services. The organization certified hundreds of professionals, including trainers, paramedics, and ambulance vehicle operators, further enhancing the emirate’s emergency response capabilities.
