Sharjah Police Close Al Faya Dunes Area Following Tragic Accident

The Sharjah Police Department has decided to close the Al Faya dunes area in the emirate's centre region.

The Sharjah Police have decided to officially shut down the Al Faya dunes area in the emirate’s central region, prioritizing the safety and security of the community following a tragic incident on Friday, November 17.

An Asian youth lost his life, and another individual sustained injuries in an off-roading accident, prompting this action.

Rationale for Closure:

The General Command of Sharjah Police emphasized the closure as a response to the lack of compliance with security rules and guidelines in the area.

Illegal off-roading activities have been identified as posing significant risks to motorists and their accompanying families or individuals.

Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, highlighted concerns about irresponsible practices in desert areas during holidays, particularly among young individuals indulging in unsafe riding practices.

These practices have led to numerous accidents, endangering lives.

Awareness Campaigns and Warnings:

Sharjah Police has conducted multiple awareness campaigns to deter unauthorized and reckless driving, especially during holidays.

The primary objective is to secure the safety of families and individuals who visit the area for recreational purposes. Drivers have been strongly cautioned against performing stunts in sandy areas.

Enforcement and Reporting Mechanisms:

The closure is a stern warning to vehicle owners engaged in such risky activities, urging strict adherence to laws.

Community members are encouraged to promptly report any observed dangerous behaviors by dialing the emergency number (999).
