According to the NCS, an earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter Scale shook Japan's Kuril Islands on Thursday.

A tremor measuring 6.3 on the Richter Scale rattled Japan’s Kuril Islands on Thursday, as the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reported.

The seismic event occurred at 6:15 pm local time at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to NCS data.

Geographical Coordinates:

The earthquake’s epicenter was pinpointed at a latitude of 44.36 and a longitude of 149.23, as disclosed by the NCS.

NCS shared information about the earthquake on the X platform, stating, “Earthquake of Magnitude: 6.3, Occurred on 28-12-2023, 14:45:12 IST, Lat: 44.36 & Long: 149.23, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Kuril Islands, Japan.”
