Dubai Taxi Services Introduce Special Rates for New Year’s Eve

Dubai Taxi Expands Fleet with 94 New Vehicles, Market Share Set to Increase

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has declared a revised fare system for taxi services in and around locations hosting fireworks displays.

A new flag-down rate of Dh20 will be introduced, with dynamic fares up to twice the original prices for Hala Taxi services, specifically on New Year’s Eve.

These rates will be effective from 6 pm on Sunday, December 31, until 6 am the following day, exclusively at designated fireworks locations.

Variable Taxi Rates in Dubai:

The standard taxi rates in Dubai vary based on taxi type, pickup location, trip duration, and distance traveled. Normally, the minimum taxi fare or flag-down rate stands at Dh12, with an additional charge of Dh1.97 per kilometer.

Adapting to Major Events:

RTA’s initiative includes implementing adjusted flag-down rates for regular-metered taxis and Hala Taxi services during significant events such as major exhibitions and international conventions.

Notable venues like the World Trade Centre, Expo City, and Global Village will see these fare adjustments during such events.

Objectives of the Fare Modifications:

The RTA stated that these changes aim to continually enhance and upgrade both conventional taxi services and the e-hail feature of Hala Taxi, especially during high-demand periods like New Year’s Eve.

The adjustments are tailored to accommodate the substantial demand for taxi services from residents, visitors, and tourists converging on Dubai from around the globe during major events.
