Dubai Dewa Innovates Visitor Experiences with Metaverse at Solar Park

At its Innovation Centre in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, Dewa has included a metaverse experience.

As experiential trends gain prominence, especially among the tech-savvy Gen-Z, Dubai entities are leveraging new technologies to enhance visitor experiences. 

The metaverse, a revolutionary technology shaping internet experiences, is embraced by various sectors, including hospitality, aviation, and more.

Dewa’s Metaverse Experience at Solar Park:

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has incorporated a metaverse experience at its Innovation Centre in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. 

Visitors can virtually fly over the expansive solar park, covering 127 square kilometers with 8 million photovoltaic panels, generating clean electricity for the emirate.

Engaging and Interactive Experiences:

Located on the third floor of the Innovation Centre, the metaverse experience offers an engaging and interactive journey over the MBR Solar Park. 

The Center also features a hologram show providing insights into Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy, enhancing the visitor experience.

Tallest Solar Tower and Thermal Energy Storage Plant:

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park boasts the world’s tallest solar tower, surrounded by 70,000 mirrors, creating a sci-fi movie ambiance. 

The tower holds a Guinness World Record, generating 100 MW of green energy using molten salt, steam turbines, and heating technologies. 

Additionally, the park houses the world’s largest thermal solar energy storage plant, with a capacity of 3,599 MWth, utilizing molten salt technology.

Noor Energy 1 and Guinness World Records:

Noor Energy 1, the 4th phase of the MBR Solar Park, generates 700 MW from Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) and 250 MW from Photovoltaic (PV) mode. 

It received Guinness World Records for the tallest solar tower and largest thermal energy storage plant. Despite challenges, including the onset of COVID-19, the project continued without interruption.
