Third Earthquake in Iran Sends Tremors Felt in UAE
Residents in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) experienced tremors as a third earthquake struck Iran on Tuesday.
The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported that UAE residents in the northern regions felt the tremors, but the earthquake had no significant impact on the country.
Series of Earthquakes:
The NCM recorded a 5.6-magnitude earthquake in south Iran at 12:22 p.m. (UAE time). This marked the third earthquake the authority’s seismic network detected on the same day.
Earlier, earthquakes measuring 6.0 and 5.5 on the Richter scale had struck Iran at 9:10 a.m. and 8:59 a.m., respectively. While UAE residents felt these quakes, they did not significantly impact the country.
UAE’s Low Seismic Activity:
The UAE typically registers two to three minor tremors yearly, but residents barely feel these.
The country is not in an active seismic belt, meaning earthquakes do not pose a substantial risk to its buildings or infrastructure.
The recent seismic activity highlights the occasional occurrence of earthquakes in the region, although the UAE remains relatively unaffected due to its geographical location.
