E-scooters and bicycles have become increasingly popular in the UAE, offering convenient transportation options.

However, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) emphasizes the importance of adhering to traffic rules.

Here are seven fines riders need to be aware of:

  1. Carrying a passenger on a bicycle: Dh200 fine.
  2. Carrying a passenger on an e-scooter: Dh300 fine.
  3. Failure to wear required safety gear and helmet: Dh200 fine.
  4. Not following RTA’s speed limits on designated tracks: Dh100 fine.
  5. Riding a bicycle in a way that endangers lives: Dh300 fine.
  6. Disregarding directional signs: Dh200 fine.
  7. Children under 12 cycling unaccompanied: Dh200 fine.

The RTA has issued advisories on social media, reminding residents of these rules. Riders must adhere to designated tracks, traffic directions, and maximum speeds.

E-scooters are not allowed to carry passengers and can only be used by individuals under 16 years old.

Additionally, children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Following these regulations ensures a safe and penalty-free riding experience.
