Dorothy Hoffner, a remarkable 104-year-old resident of Chicago, is on a mission to be recognized as the oldest person to ever skydive, setting an inspiring example of defying age limitations.

In her recent tandem jump at Skydive Chicago in Ottawa, located approximately 140 kilometers southwest of Chicago, she left her walker on the ground and took to the skies.

Age Is Just a Number:

Addressing a cheering crowd upon safely touching the ground, Dorothy Hoffner confidently declared, “Age is just a number.” Her remarkable feat has captivated the hearts of many.

Aiming for a Guinness World Record:

103-year-old Linnéa Ingegärd Larsson from Sweden achieved the current Guinness World Record for the oldest skydiver in May 2022.

However, Skydive Chicago is actively working to have Guinness World Records officially certify Dorothy Hoffner’s jump as a new record, according to WLS-TV.

Dorothy Hoffner’s skydiving journey began when she was 100 years old, and on this remarkable Sunday, she took her daring leap from 13,500 feet (4,100 meters).

She eschewed her walker, opting for a tandem jump with a US Parachute Association-certified instructor.

While on the plane, Hoffner displayed remarkable calm and confidence.

She took the lead in the jump, leaving onlookers in awe. Her dive included a flawless forward roll in the sky before stabilizing in freefall with her belly facing the ground.

The Joy of the Sky:

The entire dive lasted seven minutes, culminating in a gentle parachute descent to the ground. Hoffner’s friends rushed to congratulate her upon landing, and her walker was returned to her side.

When asked about her feelings after touching down, she simply said, “Wonderful.” She then described the entire experience as “delightful” and couldn’t have asked for anything better.

A Future Full of Adventures:

Despite her incredible achievement, Dorothy Hoffner isn’t done with her adventures. With her 105th birthday around December, she’s already thinking about her next challenge – a ride in a hot-air balloon.

She expressed her excitement about this upcoming experience, emphasizing that she’s never been in one before.

Dorothy Hoffner’s indomitable spirit and zest for life inspire people of all ages, proving that pursuing one’s passions knows no age limits.
