UAE “Tarahum — for Gaza” Campaign: Relief Aid for the Palestinian People

In its ongoing “Tarahum — for Gaza” campaign, the UAE dispatched an aircraft carrying 68 tonnes of food supplies and relief aid to Al Areesh, Egypt. 

This aid is destined for the Gaza Strip, facilitated through the Rafah Border Crossing in collaboration with the UN World Food Programme (WFP).

Alleviating the Suffering of Palestinians:

This humanitarian initiative is part of the UAE’s unwavering dedication to alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people affected by the ongoing conflict. 

The aid aims to contribute to the global effort of providing humanitarian and relief support to the Palestinian population.

Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organisations Affairs underscores the UAE’s collaboration with international organizations, particularly the WFP, to provide essential aid to the Gaza Strip.

Mobilizing Community Efforts:

The “Tarahum — for Gaza” campaign mobilizes efforts across all sectors of the UAE’s diverse community, including humanitarian and charity organizations and volunteering platforms. The campaign involves citizens, residents, public and private institutions, and volunteers.

Relief Package Preparation Events:

The campaign is organizing events to prepare relief packages. On Saturday, events from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Qalaat Al Remal, Dubai, will be overseen by Dubai Cares. 

On Sunday, the Emirates Red Crescent will supervise events from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). Another event, overseen by Sharjah Charity International (SCI), will occur at Expo Centre Sharjah.

UAE’s Commitment to Supporting Friendly Peoples:

The UAE is committed to delivering urgent relief aid to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. 

This reflects the country’s dedication to supporting friendly nations during times of crisis, guided by the principles and values upheld by the UAE’s leadership and community.

The “Tarahum — for Gaza” campaign prioritizes alleviating the humanitarian conditions and suffering of the most vulnerable groups, especially children, who comprise nearly half of the Gaza Strip’s population. 

The campaign aims to meet the basic needs of children and mothers while providing health supplies and general hygiene materials.

Successful Start and Continued Support:

The campaign began successfully on October 15, with over 4,500 volunteers preparing 13,000 relief packages at Abu Dhabi Ports Hall in Mina Zayed. These packages include food baskets and items for children, mothers, and women.

Collaborative Effort:

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs supervises the campaign with the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, the World Food Programme, and the Ministry of Community Development. It involves the participation of 20 relief and humanitarian institutions.

Those interested in volunteering to prepare relief packages can register through various platforms, including “Volunteers.Emirates,” the Emirates Red Crescent’s Volunteers Portal, the Day for Dubai Platform, and the Sharjah Volunteering Centre.
