UAE Sends 33 Tonnes of Food Supplies for Afghanistan Earthquake Victims

The UAE has dispatched an aircraft carrying 33 tonnes of food to assist the people affected by the recent earthquake in northwest Herat, Afghanistan.
The earthquake caused numerous casualties, including women and children, and resulted in extensive damage to infrastructure.
Collaboration of Humanitarian Organizations:
The relief aid was coordinated and assembled through the combined efforts of various UAE humanitarian organizations, including the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) was also instrumental in this initiative.
UAE’s Commitment to Providing Support:
Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organizations Affairs emphasized that this urgent shipment of food supplies is part of the UAE’s dedication to offering assistance to other countries during times of crisis, particularly in the aftermath of natural disasters.
Such events often lead to severe shortages of food and medical resources, necessitating a swift response to help those affected, including women, children, and the elderly.
UAE as a Prompt Responder:
Al Shamsi highlighted that the UAE has consistently been one of the first responders, providing support to alleviate the consequences of natural disasters, demonstrating the country’s firm commitment to extending assistance and immediate relief to nations and populations in need.
This commitment aligns with the approach initiated by the UAE’s Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It continues to be guided by the leadership of the UAE.
