UAE Retailers Roll Out Massive Ramadan Discounts to Alleviate Rising Prices

In a bid to alleviate the financial strain on consumers during Ramadan, leading retailers in the UAE have unveiled extensive price reductions that are expected to benefit millions of people across the country. The move comes amidst concerns over escalating prices during the holy month, offering relief to families grappling with increased expenses.

Ramadan, a time of spiritual reflection and charitable giving, often sees households facing significant financial challenges due to the additional expenses incurred during this period. With the cost of essential items on the rise, many families find it difficult to manage their budgets effectively.

To address these concerns, retailers in Dubai and Sharjah have introduced substantial discounts on a wide range of products, making it easier for consumers to meet their needs without overspending. These discounts are aimed at easing the burden on families and ensuring that everyone can observe Ramadan without compromising on essential purchases.

One resident, Diana Izhaiman, shared her experience of the financial challenges faced during Ramadan, noting that expenses tend to triple compared to other months of the year. However, she expressed gratitude for the discounts offered by retailers, stating that they make it less burdensome for families like hers to celebrate the spirit of Ramadan.

Similarly, Munawar Hamza, another resident, emphasized the importance of discounted campaigns during Ramadan, particularly for families with limited incomes. She highlighted the necessity of cooking multiple meals daily during Ramadan, which can significantly increase household expenses. However, the availability of discounted products helps alleviate the financial strain on families like hers, enabling them to navigate the holy month with greater ease.

In Sharjah, the Co-operative Society has allocated Dh35 million from its profits to subsidize prices on nearly 10,000 essential food items. This initiative, part of its annual Ramadan Campaign, aims to support the community by ensuring access to affordable necessities. The Society’s CEO, Majid Al Junaid, emphasized the importance of meeting the community’s needs while maintaining quality and affordability.

Meanwhile, Dubai’s Union Co-op is offering discounts of up to 75% on various products, along with freezing the prices of an additional 2,000 items. Additionally, Carrefour has launched a Dh50 million campaign, promising discounts of up to 50% on 5,000 products. The campaign also includes the distribution of charity boxes priced at Dh50 and Dh100, providing customers with an opportunity to donate to those in need during Ramadan.

Bertrand Loumaye, the UAE country manager at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, highlighted the importance of giving back to the community and ensuring access to healthy, nutritious food at affordable prices. He emphasized the role of AI technology in enhancing operational efficiency and optimizing delivery routes to meet customer demand effectively.

Overall, these initiatives underscore the commitment of retailers in the UAE to support their communities during Ramadan and alleviate the financial burden on consumers.
