UAE Residents Face Long Waits for US Visa Appointments

Professionals in the travel sector have reported an exceptional rise in demand from UAE citizens looking to visit the United States.

UAE residents with aspirations of traveling to the United States are advised to exercise patience, as high demand has stretched the earliest available visa appointment slots to a year-long wait, according to travel industry experts.

Subheading 2: Unprecedented Demand:

Travel industry professionals have noted an unprecedented surge in demand among UAE residents seeking to visit the United States.

The situation has resulted in a shortage of available visa appointments in the UAE. For instance, the soonest appointment in Dubai can be secured on October 18, 2024, while in Abu Dhabi, the earliest available slot is in November 2024, as shared by Dhas Antony, the General Manager of Rejoice Tourism LLC.

Appointments Filling Rapidly:

Experts in the field have observed that visa appointment slots are filling up rapidly, with many residents booking appointments six to eight months in advance.

There are concerns that, as the slots continue to be reserved, visa appointments may not be available until March 2025.

Considerations and Alternatives:

UAE residents keen on visiting the United States do have alternative options.

Experts suggest that UAE residents have the privilege of requesting a US visa appointment in any GCC nation, which can be secured within a shorter timeframe, typically ranging from a few days to a month.

“Many residents are opting to travel to neighboring countries for the appointment, for which UAE residents are privileged,” said Subair Thekepurathvalappil, Senior Manager for Inbound and Outbound Operations at Regal Tours Worldwide.

Applying for a US Visit Visa:

For UAE residents preparing a trip to the United States, it’s essential to understand the visa application process. There are two primary types of US visit visas:

  1. B1 Visa: This visa, also known as the US Business Visa, is intended for individuals traveling to the United States for business purposes.
  2. B2 Visa: The B2 Visa is designated as a tourist visa for leisure and tourism purposes. It allows for a stay in the US for up to six months.

The procedure to apply for a US visit visa generally involves the following steps:

  • Determine the sort of visa you require based on your travel purpose.
  • Identify the appropriate location to submit your visa application within the UAE.
  • Complete the online application form (DS-160).
  • Pay the visa fee.
  • Secure an appointment for a US visa interview.
  • Gather the necessary documents required for the visa application.
  • Attend the visa interview.
