UAE National Day Holidays: A Mix of Celebration and Workdays

Private sector workers in the UAE will enjoy paid public holidays on December 2 and 3 to commemorate the National Day.

However, since these dates align with the regular Saturday-Sunday weekend, it won’t result in an extended employee break.

Contrast with Previous Year:

In 2022, private and public sector employees had an additional day off on December 1 for Commemoration Day, leading to a three-day break combined with the National Day holidays.

This year, December 1, is a working day, altering the holiday landscape.

Despite the shorter National Day break, residents can look forward to ending 2023 on a high note. January 1, 2024, falls on a Monday and is a paid holiday.

Coupled with the usual Saturday-Sunday weekend, this offers a three-day break to kickstart the new year.

Significance of UAE National Day:

December 2 marks the UAE National Day, commemorating the unification of the Emirates in 1971. This year, the country celebrates its 52nd anniversary.

Festivities and events are planned nationwide, with Expo City Dubai hosting the official Union Day show, highlighting the country’s sustainability journey.

Expo City Dubai takes center stage in showcasing the Union Day celebrations, offering a platform to narrate the UAE’s sustainability story.

The event promises entertainment and reflection on the country’s progress since unification.
