UAE Launches Awareness Campaign on Visa Violations and Labor Laws

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has initiated a nationwide awareness campaign, commencing on October 10, to educate residents and tourists about violations related to tourist, work, and job-seeker visas.
The campaign emphasizes the importance of rectifying visa statuses by obtaining a new visa or exiting the country once the initial visa expires.
Focus on New UAE Labor Laws:
Additionally, the campaign seeks to shed light on the provisions of the new UAE labor law, which came into effect last year.
It ensures employers and employees know their rights and responsibilities under the new legislation.
The awareness drive employs a multilingual approach, with information presented in four languages: Arabic, English, Urdu, and Swahili.
This approach confirms that a diverse range of target groups can access the campaign’s information effectively.
Collaborative Effort:
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) have jointly launched this campaign.
Several government entities and free zones are also participating in this initiative.
Campaign Objectives:
Khalil Al Khoori, undersecretary for Human Resources Affairs at MoHRE, outlined the campaign’s goals, stating, “The campaign aims to familiarize people with the key provisions of the entry and residency laws for foreign nationals in the UAE, as well as regulations for labor relations (the labor law), and the procedures and penalties for violators.
This encourages target groups to comply with laws to guarantee the rights of both parties in the employment relationship.”
Legal Measures Highlighted:
Major-General Suhail Al Khaili, director-general of the ICP, emphasized that the campaign will also raise awareness about the legal measures against visa and labor regulation violators.
This approach aims to deter individuals from engaging in violations and promote compliance with the law.
This awareness campaign underscores the UAE’s commitment to educating its residents and visitors about the country’s visa and labor regulations while ensuring they understand the consequences of non-compliance.
