UAE Initiative UNESCO Adopts Emirati Proposal for International Days

UNESCO has accepted an Emirati proposal to establish two key international days, according to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.

In a groundbreaking announcement, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, revealed that UNESCO has accepted an Emirati proposal, establishing two significant international days.

International Day of Programming:

Sheikh Mohammed shared on X that October 29 of each year will now be recognized as the International Day of Programming. 

This date holds historical significance as the day Dubai Internet City was launched, emphasizing the UAE’s commitment to technological advancements.

International Day for Digital Education:

March 19 has been designated as the International Day for Digital Education. 

This day marks a global acknowledgment of digital education’s crucial role in fostering scientific development and shaping the future.

Sheikh Mohammed’s Tweet:

His Highness took to Twitter, stating, “In a new global initiative for the UAE… UNESCO today adopts an Emirati proposal to make October 29 of each year (the day we launched Dubai Internet City) an international day of programming… and March 19 an international day for digital education.”

Focus on Programming and Digital Education:

Sheikh Mohammed underscored the importance of programming in economic development and highlighted digital education as a fundamental axis in scientific development. 

The UAE, he affirmed, is committed to remaining a pivotal force in advancing the best tools and practices for the benefit of humanity.
