UAE Digital Marriages: Remote Ceremonies and Electronic Contracts

ADJD is pioneering a digital solution that simplifies the marriage process by allowing couples to apply for a marriage certificate and sign the contract remotely.

Technology will make getting married in the UAE more convenient and efficient.

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) is pioneering a digital solution that simplifies the marriage process, allowing couples to apply for a marriage certificate and sign the contract remotely, with the added benefit of legally binding digital signatures.

Virtual Matrimony Services:

The ADJD has unveiled a groundbreaking videoconferencing software for matrimony at Gitex Global 2023 in Dubai.

This innovative service enables residents to apply for a marriage contract electronically, obtain necessary approvals, and complete online payment procedures.

Remote Appointment Booking:

To further enhance the experience, couples can book appointments for signing the marriage contract through videoconferencing technology, eliminating the need for in-person visits and streamlining the process.

Legally Secure Digital Signatures:

The ADJD emphasizes that digital signatures of both parties will be legally binding, ensuring the security and authenticity of the marriage contract.

This digital transformation aligns with the government’s vision and direction to enhance government performance and services.

Government Vision and Digital Transformation:

Counsellor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, the ADJD undersecretary, highlighted the significance of digital transformation and modern technologies in revolutionizing the judicial system in Abu Dhabi.

These advancements align with the directives of UAE Vice-President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan to create a more competitive global presence for the Abu Dhabi government.

How to Apply for a Digital Wedding:

To utilize this digital wedding service, applicants must use UAE Pass, the national digital identity platform.

The process includes applying for a marriage contract electronically, awaiting approvals, completing payment procedures online, scheduling a remote contract signing appointment using WebEx web conferencing, and receiving the final marriage contract with digital signatures from both parties.
