On Tuesday morning, UAE residents experienced mild tremors caused by twin earthquakes in southern Iran.
The first earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.5, was recorded at 8:59 a.m. UAE time, followed by a second earthquake reported at 9:10 a.m.
The second quake had a magnitude of 6.0 on the Richter scale.
No Cause for Concern:
Seismology experts in the UAE have reassured residents that the country’s low to moderate seismicity makes it safe from earthquakes. The UAE is not situated on an active seismic belt.
Details of the Earthquakes:
The earthquakes occurred at a depth of 10 km and had their epicenter in northern Hormozgan Province, approximately 61 km north of Bandar Abbas.
The tremors were felt across various regions in Iran and the northern part of the UAE.
While there have been no initial reports of damage or casualties, authorities are expected to conduct comprehensive damage assessments in the coming hours. Aftershocks may occur over the next few days.
