Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Former NFL Cornerback DJ Hayden

In a heartbreaking incident early Saturday morning, former NFL cornerback DJ Hayden and two of his ex-teammates from the University of Houston, Zachary McMillian, and Ralph Oragwu, lost their lives in a tragic traffic signal accident in downtown Houston.
High-Velocity Collision at Intersection Claims Six Lives:
As per the reports from the Associated Press and the Houston Chronicle, the fatal accident occurred around 2 am when a Chrysler 300, reportedly traveling at high velocity, ran a red light and collided with an Acura SUV carrying Hayden, McMillian, and Oragwu.
The impact resulted in the deaths of all occupants in the SUV and the Chrysler’s driver, along with an additional pedestrian.
Ongoing Investigation and Unanswered Questions:
Houston Police Assistant Chief Megan Howard confirmed the details of the crash, emphasizing that the investigation is ongoing.
Key aspects, including identifying the SUV’s driver, remain to be ascertained. Former University of Houston player Jeffery Lewis, a passenger in the SUV, survived the crash and has provided crucial information to the police.

DJ Hayden, a native of Houston, had a remarkable career that included overcoming a near-fatal heart injury during his senior year at the University of Houston in 2012.
His recovery led to his selection as a first-round NFL draft pick in 2013, and he played eight seasons with teams like the Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions, and Jacksonville Jaguars.
