Terror Attack on Pakistan Air Force Base in Mianwali Thwarted

On Friday night, a huge terror strike comprising suicide bombers hit the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) facility in Mianwali, Northern Pakistan.

A massive terror attack involving suicide bombers targeted the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) base in Mianwali, Northern Pakistan, on Friday night.

The attackers entered the base premises, leading to a heavy gunfight between security forces and the assailants.

Attackers Claimed by Tehreek-e-Jihad:

Reports indicated that a Taliban-linked group known as Tehreek-e-Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack on the PAF base.

The Pakistan military reacted swiftly to the attack, and as per Reuters, they reported that three attackers were killed during the confrontation. 

However, three attackers remained active inside the base, leading to ongoing heavy gunfighting.

During the attack, multiple planes parked within the Air Force base were reportedly destroyed, and the attackers used a ladder to breach the base’s fenced walls.

Statement from Pakistan Armed Forces:

A statement from the Pakistan Armed Forces confirmed the attack but described it as a “failed terrorist attack.”

It highlighted that troops had neutralized three attackers before they could breach the base, while the remaining three were isolated. 

The operation to clear the area was underway, and some damage to grounded aircraft and a fuel bowser had occurred.

Commitment to Counter Terrorism:

The statement reaffirmed the Pakistan Armed Forces’ commitment to eradicating the menace of terrorism from the country at all costs.
