Shees Rest Area: Sharjah’s Newest Family-Friendly Leisure Destination Opens

His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the new family-friendly leisure destination known as the ‘Shees Rest Area.’ 

This latest addition to Sharjah’s landmarks was unveiled on a Friday.

Situated after the Rogue Tunnel on the Khor Fakkan – Sharjah Road, the Shees Rest Area features 58 shops offering a diverse range of products, from groceries to carpets, travel supplies, and perfumes. The destination also includes restaurants and cafés.

Visitor-Focused Amenities:

Apart from the retail outlets, the area offers a range of luxuries for visitors, including a 430-square-meter shaded outdoor theatre with a large screen accommodating up to 80 people. Additionally, there is a 600-square-meter children’s play area for young visitors to enjoy.

Empowering Local Communities:

The Shees Rest Area project goes beyond tourism, as the shops lining the area have been allocated to citizens residing in the Shees and Al Nahwa areas. 

During the inauguration, Sheikh Dr Sultan personally handed over the title deeds to these Emirati business owners, wishing them success in their endeavors.

A Commitment to Improving Living Standards:

The ruler of Sharjah emphasized that the emirate’s development projects have a central objective: to provide a better life for UAE families, especially those with lower incomes. 

This social initiative aims to enhance the living standards of citizens.

Sheikh Dr Sultan confirmed that more similar social projects are in the pipeline, ensuring that citizen opportunities continue to expand. 

He assured those who were not part of this project that they would have a chance in future initiatives, emphasizing a sense of unity among all community members.

A Scenic Oasis:

The Shees Rest Area is strategically located to serve visitors traveling along the Khor Fakkan Road who wish to enjoy the scenic mountains. 

The destination offers a serene environment for individuals seeking respite in cooler weather.

Natural Beauty and Greenery:

Set against the backdrop of majestic mountains, the Shees Rest Area is adorned with flowers and greenery, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the destination.
