Response to Israel-Hamas conflict: UK sends aircraft and ships to Middle East

The UK will deploy two Royal Navy ships and a surveillance plane to the eastern Mediterranean in strategies to “bolster security,” No 10 says.
Following six days of violence resulting from a surprise attack on Israel by Hamas, the United Kingdom has taken significant measures to address the escalating situation.
Aircraft Patrols and Troop Deployment
The UK has deployed aircraft to begin patrols on Friday with a specific mission: to monitor and track potential threats to regional stability. This includes identifying and preventing the transfer of weapons to terrorist groups.
In addition to aircraft, three Merlin helicopters and Royal Marines have also been dispatched to contribute to these efforts.
Aid for Stranded British Nationals
As part of its response, the UK government is actively organizing flights to assist British nationals who find themselves stranded in Israel due to the ongoing conflict.
While the first flight was initially scheduled to depart from Tel Aviv on Thursday, as of Friday morning, it had not yet taken off.
A Foreign Office spokesperson clarified that the departure situation was fluid, and the government is working diligently to ensure that the flight can proceed as soon as possible.
The UK’s comprehensive response demonstrates its commitment to addressing the security situation and providing support to its citizens affected by the crisis.
