Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan to Reunite After 33 Years

The upcoming film "Thalaivar 170," directed by T J Gnanavel, will reunite Rajinikanth with iconic actor Amitabh Bachchan on the silver screen.

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth and legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan are set to reunite on the silver screen in the upcoming film “Thalaivar 170,” directed by T J Gnanavel. Their collaboration marks a momentous reunion after 33 years.

Rajinikanth’s Joyful Announcement:

Rajinikanth expressed his excitement by sharing a picture of himself with Amitabh Bachchan on social media, stating, “After 33 years, I am working again with my mentor, the phenomenon, Shri Amitabh Bachchan in the upcoming Lyca’s ‘Thalaivar 170’ directed by T J Gnanavel. My heart is thumping with joy.”

A Legacy of Collaborations:

Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth last appeared together in the 1991 film “Hum,” directed by Mukul Anand. Before “Hum,” their iconic collaborations included “Andhaa Kaanoon” (1983) and “Geraftaar” (1985).

Star-Studded Cast:

“Thalaivar 170” features an impressive ensemble cast, including Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Rakshan, and GM Soundar. 

Lyca Productions produce the movie. Renowned music composer Anirudh Ravichander has also been brought on board by the filmmakers.

Rajinikanth, in an interview with the Indian news agency PTI, shared insights about his 170th film, saying it will be a substantial entertainer with a social message. 

He mentioned that the film’s title has not been finalized yet.

Upcoming Projects:

Rajinikanth was last seen in Nelson Dilipkumar’s “Jailer.” Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan recently appeared in Tiger Shroff’s “Ganapath.” His upcoming projects include “Kalki 2898 AD,” where he stars alongside Prabhas and Deepika Padukone. 

He is also set to feature in “The Intern,” a Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood film of the same name, alongside Deepika Padukone. Deepika and Amitabh Bachchan have previously worked together in “Piku.”
