PM Modi Inaugurates RRTS Priority Section, Flags Off ‘Namo Bharat’ Train

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a historic moment by inaugurating the priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor at Sahibabad RapidX Station on Friday.
This inauguration symbolizes the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) launch in India.
The ‘Namo Bharat’ Initiative:
During this inauguration, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced that the RRTS trains will be known as ‘Namo Bharat,’ aligning them with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national vision.
Germany’s Role in the RRTS Project:
German Ambassador to India, Philipp Ackermann, attended the event and praised the RRTS project as a high-speed milestone in India.
He highlighted that the RRTS is operated by a German rail company, Deutsche Bahn, and runs at a speed of 160 km/hr. The RRTS is set to become the fastest train in India.
Out of eight identified RRTS corridors in the National Capital Region (NCR), three corridors have been prioritized for implementation in Phase I.
These corridors include the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Corridor, the Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar Corridor, and the Delhi-Panipat Corridor.
Connecting Delhi and Meerut:
The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS is a groundbreaking project with a total cost exceeding ₹30,000 crore.
It will bridge the gap between Delhi and Meerut in under an hour, passing through urban centers such as Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Modinagar.
High-Speed Commuting and Frequency Flexibility:
With a design speed of 180 kilometers per hour, the RRTS will provide high-speed intercity commuting trains every 15 minutes, with the flexibility to increase the frequency to as little as every 5 minutes.
Milestone Laid by PM Modi:
Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor on March 8, 2019, and its completion marks a significant milestone in India’s transportation infrastructure.
