Parent-Friendly Workplaces Thrive in Abu Dhabi: Empowering Employees and Families

Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Parent-Friendly Label Programme, designed to support parents in the workplace, has marked its successful third edition, announced by the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority (ECA). The initiative, which positively impacted 127,000 employees, including 67,000 parents and 48,000 children, has seen a surge in interest from various sectors.

In its latest cycle, 75 organizations across 23 industries applied for the Parent-Friendly Label, with educational institutions, professional services, and financial sectors leading the charge. Launched in 2021, the program invites semi-governmental, private, and third-sector organizations operating in the UAE for at least two years to participate.

Under the guidance of ECA Director-General Sanaa Mohamed Suhail, the program aims to foster a family-friendly work culture. It encourages organizations to adopt 19 criteria, including parental leave, breastfeeding support, and family-friendly policies. Suhail emphasizes the role of workplaces in supporting working parents and ensuring optimal child development.

With growing interest from the private sector, the ECA plans to spotlight organizations that have earned the label through their supportive policies and practices. Additionally, a series of educational webinars will be held to raise awareness about the application process and criteria.

Organizations achieving the Parent-Friendly Label are recognized on two tiers based on their adherence to local or global standards. This recognition is valid for two years, with periodic check-ins to ensure continued compliance.

The success of the Parent-Friendly Label Programme underscores Abu Dhabi’s commitment to creating inclusive and supportive work environments. By prioritizing employee well-being and family support, these initiatives contribute to a happier and more productive workforce, ultimately benefiting both employees and their families.
