In a surprising turn of events, a senior Palestinian residing in the Gaza Strip made a daring statement accusing Hamas of misappropriating international aid designated for the region’s civilians.
The revelation unfolded during an interview with Al-Jazeera on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
Eyewitness Account Exposes Misuse of Aid:
The interview, captured and translated by MEMRI, commenced with the interviewer addressing the dire conditions in Gaza, emphasizing the scarcity of food and water due to the absence of incoming aid. It was during this discussion that the unidentified woman spoke out against Hamas.
“All the aid goes to (the tunnels) underground; it does not reach the people,” she declared firmly, shedding light on the alleged misuse of resources.
The video then features a moment where the woman reiterates the intended purpose of the aid for the suffering civilians, expressing fearlessness in confronting Hamas. However, the reporter interrupts her before she can complete her statement.
Woman’s Courage Draws Praise and Recognition:
Despite the interruption, the woman persisted, emphasizing that all aid should reach the Gaza Strip. She boldly stated, “Hamas takes everything to their homes,” displaying a willingness to face any consequences for speaking out.
Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman publicly hailed the woman as a hero, acknowledging her courage. Others joined in applauding her bravery amid the looming threat posed by Hamas.
Growing Concerns Amidst Declining Aid:
According to a Reuters report, the number of trucks entering Gaza has significantly decreased to less than 100 in recent days, following a week-long truce between Israel and Hamas during which approximately 200 trucks crossed over.
The suffering of Palestinians in Gaza has persisted since Hamas initiated a surprise attack on Israeli communities, resulting in the death of 1,200 Israelis.
In response, the Jewish state launched a military campaign against the territory. The ongoing battle has claimed the lives of more than 15,000 Palestinians, as reported by the Hamas-backed health ministry.
