Nasdaq Dubai and Shanghai Stock Exchange Forge Strategic Partnership

Nasdaq Dubai and SSE have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen relations between Dubai and China's capital markets.

The Dubai Financial Market (DFM), Nasdaq Dubai, and Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bolster ties between Dubai and China’s capital markets. 

This landmark partnership signifies a significant step in fostering cross-border cooperation.

Objectives and Focus Areas:

The collaboration aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and information between the markets, emphasizing efficiency and transparency enhancements. 

Notably, joint product development in areas such as Index and ETFs, alongside the creation of ESG and sustainability-linked products, is a focal point of this alliance.

DFM and the Shanghai Stock Exchange will collaboratively explore product development opportunities, introduce companies to each other’s markets, and offer access to growth prospects and services. 

This strategic alignment aims to cater to the evolving needs of market participants and boost market reach for both entities.

CEO Insights and Market Growth:

Hamed Ali, CEO of Dubai Financial Market and Nasdaq Dubai, highlighted the partnership’s significance in bolstering international ties and fostering cooperation in pivotal areas of capital markets development. 

The collaboration aims to leverage expertise from both sides to unlock new opportunities and strengthen financial ecosystems.

Cai Jianchun, President of the Shanghai Stock Exchange, expressed satisfaction in establishing a partnership with DFM, underscoring their joint exploration in cross-listing, indices, ETFs, and ESG. 

The collaboration aims to further align product cooperation and deepen mutual market strength, guided by the China Securities Regulatory Commission.

Future Prospects and Expansion:

SSE emphasizes a commitment to further open up to the world under regulatory guidance, exploring diversified cooperation mechanisms with Middle East stock exchanges. 

The aim is to fortify bilateral and multilateral cooperation formats, continuously enriching and deepening regional collaboration avenues.
