Michael Douglas to Receive Satyajit Ray Excellence in Film Lifetime Award

Veteran Hollywood actor Michael Douglas is set to receive the esteemed Satyajit Ray Excellence in Film Lifetime Award at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which is planned to be held in Panjim, Goa, from November 20 to 28, 2023.

This prestigious accolade was announced by India’s Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur, who shared the exciting news on X (formerly Twitter). 

He expressed his delight and appreciation for Michael Douglas, a distinguished actor and producer in Hollywood.

Warm Welcome and Family Invitation:

Minister Thakur highlighted Michael Douglas’s deep affection for India and its culture. He extended a warm welcome to the actor, along with his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and their son. 

This invitation to the Douglas family is a testament to the actor’s love for the country and its cinematic traditions.

A Prior Invitation:

Earlier this year, Michael Douglas was invited to IFFI when he visited the Indian Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival. Minister of State extended the invitation for Information and Broadcasting, L Murugan, who emphasized the festival’s significance and the opportunity it offers to showcase India’s rich traditions, diverse culture, languages, and culinary heritage.
