Prime Minister’s Response:

Jamaica’s Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, took to social media to express his hope that everyone was safe following the earthquake. 

He acknowledged reports of intense shaking in parts of the country but did not indicate any signs of significant damage.

The European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) initially measured the earthquake at a magnitude of 5.7, highlighting the variation in earthquake magnitude assessments by different monitoring organizations.
