Leader Dr. Muna Tahlak Elected President of the International Hospital Federation

Dr. Muna Tahlak has made history by becoming the first Arab woman to be elected President of the International Hospital Federation.

Dr. Muna Tahlak, an accomplished Emirati doctor and a prominent healthcare official in Dubai, has made history by becoming the first Arab woman to be elected President of the International Hospital Federation (IHF).

A Renowned Figure in Dubai’s Healthcare Sector:

Dr. Tahlak, holding several esteemed positions, is a pivotal figure in Dubai’s healthcare sector. 

Her election to lead a prestigious global organization has garnered praise from influential figures, including the Dubai Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

In response to Dr. Tahlak’s election, Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the ongoing accomplishments of Emirati women, highlighting their competence and expertise in national and global leadership roles. 

He expressed pride in Dr. Muna’s fundamental contributions to the medical field and extended his best wishes for her new journey.

A Distinguished Career:

Dr. Tahlak currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer of Dubai Academic Health Corporation (DAHC), Vice-Provost for Clinical Practice at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), and CEO of the Latifa Hospital for Women and Children. 

Her career achievements have not only elevated her status in the field but also brought international recognition to the UAE’s healthcare sector.

Dr. Tahlak’s election as the first Arab woman and Emirati to hold such a prestigious position underscores the UAE’s dedication to advancing women’s roles in diverse fields and promoting excellence in healthcare.

Dr. Tahlak’s election as the new IHF President marks the start of her two-year term, succeeding Deborah J. Bowen, FACHE, CAE, the President and CEO of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
