Innovative solution for alcohol addiction: Dubai students develop AI-powered app

The app uses a skin patch to unleash a chemical into the blood that causes sickness when mixed with liquor.
Introduction:
A team of Year 12 students from Gems Wellington Academy in Silicon Oasis, Dubai, has garnered international acclaim for their groundbreaking app, Rehabity. This app, utilizing artificial intelligence, aims to assist individuals struggling with alcohol addiction.
The Ingenious Concept of Rehabity:
Sanah Joseph, Naina George, and Aradhana Sivaraman have developed an app that goes beyond conventional methods.
Rehabity employs a skin patch equipped with sensors and electrodes to monitor vital signs, including blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and drug capacity, providing real-time data on alcohol presence in the user’s system.
How Rehabity Works:
When a user consumes alcohol, the app’s sensors detect changes in vital signs. Any spikes, such as an increased heart rate, trigger the release of a small amount of antabuse, a chemical known for inducing a metallic taste in the mouth and nausea when combined with alcohol.
This innovative approach provides a timely intervention for individuals battling alcohol addiction.
International Recognition and Cop28 Display:
Rehabity has already received international recognition for its innovative approach to addressing alcohol addiction. The app is slated to be showcased at the upcoming Cop28 climate change conference, signifying its potential impact on the intersection of technology, health, and societal challenges.
Beyond Boundaries:
The students’ initiative highlights the transformative power of technology in addressing critical health issues. Rehabity not only showcases the creative prowess of Dubai’s young minds but also demonstrates the potential of leveraging AI for positive societal change.
In summary, the Rehabity app represents a remarkable fusion of technology and healthcare, offering a promising solution for those grappling with alcohol addiction. The students’ achievement is not only a testament to their ingenuity but also a beacon of hope for the intersection of technology and social impact.
