Impending Weather Alert

Weather forecasters have issued a significant warning for several Scottish cities and their vicinity, including Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth, Stirling, and surrounding areas. 

The forecast indicates the likelihood of exceptionally heavy rainfall from 06:00 on Thursday until 18:00 on Friday.

Potential Rainfall Intensity

The expected rainfall is substantial, with up to 100mm (4 inches) predicted for the affected regions. In upland areas, it’s anticipated that some locations could experience as much as 200mm (8 inches) of rainfall.

Precautions and Impact Assessment

To address the potential impact of this weather event, Network Rail Scotland has scheduled meetings to assess the situation. 

As a precaution, speed restrictions will be implemented on various railway routes, including those between Aberdeen and Keith, Aberdeen and Dundee, and Perth and Inverness on Thursday.

ScotRail has advised its customers to stay updated on service changes and potential disruptions, urging them to check for updates before embarking on their journeys. 

This warning emphasizes the significance of preparedness and safety in the face of adverse weather conditions.
