Pep Guardiola urges the 115 financial charges facing Manchester City represent a “completely different” case to Everton’s Premier League points deduction and cannot be likened.
Following Everton’s 10-point deduction due to financial rule breaches, questions arose about potential implications for Manchester City. Manager Pep Guardiola, however, emphasized the differences between the two cases when asked about Everton’s punishment.
Guardiola underscored the distinct nature of the situations, stating, “It’s two different cases. It’s not the same – honestly.” He further explained that after discussing the matter with his team, they concluded that the scenarios were dissimilar.
Complexity of City’s Case
Addressing concerns ahead of their match against Liverpool, Guardiola elaborated that City’s situation is more intricate, involving 115 breaches. He urged patience, noting the complexity of their case, indicating the need to await the legal process and the subsequent verdict.
Legal Process Unfolding
The manager highlighted the forthcoming process where legal representatives from both sides will present their arguments before a judge, leading to a final verdict.
City’s Unique Situation
City stands as the only other club besides Everton to have faced charges by the Premier League regarding alleged financial breaches. Guardiola’s statements aimed to delineate the disparities between Everton’s penalty and the complexities inherent in City’s ongoing case.
