Fog Alerts Issued in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Caution Urged for Drivers

The UAE's weather service has issued fog warnings for parts of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, forcing motorists to take extra precautions.

The UAE’s weather department has issued fog alerts for select areas in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, prompting cautionary measures for motorists.

Reduced visibility due to fog has led to the activation of a speed reduction system on various roads in Abu Dhabi.

Drivers must adhere to changing speed limits displayed on electronic information boards to ensure road safety.

Weather Alerts and Visibility Conditions:

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued red and yellow alerts, with red indicating actual fog formation and visibility dropping to as low as 1,000 meters.

The Met department’s statement noted a likelihood of fog formation with a deterioration in horizontal visibility.

This reduced visibility is expected to persist, potentially worsening at times, primarily affecting coastal and internal areas from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

Weather Outlook:

Overall, the weather in the UAE is expected to be fair to partly cloudy, with the possibility of low clouds emerging over the eastern coast by morning.

These clouds may develop into convective clouds by the afternoon, particularly in eastern areas. Humidity levels are expected to rise during the night and into Wednesday morning, with a chance of fog or mist formation in select coastal and internal regions.

The wind is forecasted to be light to moderate, occasionally gaining strength. Sea conditions are expected to be slightly choppy in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution, especially during reduced visibility caused by fog, and to stay updated on weather advisories to ensure safe travel.
