Heavy rain and thunderstorms wreaked havoc at Dubai International Airport, resulting in significant disruptions to flight schedules.

Inbound Flights Redirected, Outbound Flights Cancelled

The adverse weather conditions led to the redirection of 13 inbound flights to other airports, while six outbound flights were outright canceled. This sudden shift affected numerous travelers, prompting the airport’s representatives to advise passengers on alternative transportation and cautionary measures.

Advice for Passengers

To navigate the chaos, Dubai Airports recommended that passengers use the Dubai Metro, keep an eye on traffic updates, and allocate extra time for reaching the airport. Additionally, they urged travelers to regularly check for flight updates online to stay informed about any changes or delays.

Transport Authority Announcements

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority also joined in, announcing on social media the suspension of various bus lines across the city. Key routes like the E315 from Dubai to Sharjah and the E411 from Dubai to Ajman were among those affected, amplifying the travel challenges for commuters.

Road Safety Concerns

Dubai Police issued a warning for motorists traveling on Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road between Al Rashidiya Bridge and Sharjah. The area experienced flooding due to the heavy rain, prompting authorities to advise caution and recommend alternative routes to ensure the safety of drivers.
