Flight Brings Over 170 Palestinian Cancer Patients to Abu Dhabi

On Monday, a flight carrying more than 170 Palestinian patients, the most of whom were cancer patients, landed in Abu Dhabi.

In a compassionate move, a flight carrying more than 170 primarily cancer-stricken Palestinian patients, along with their family members, touched down in Abu Dhabi on Monday as part of a larger humanitarian initiative.

Medical Conditions and Arrival:

The Etihad Airways flight, originating from Egypt’s Al Arish International Airport, conveyed over 90 patients, predominantly elderly individuals grappling with cancer.

A medical expert accompanying the group reported that most were in stable condition, with only a few requiring wheelchairs or stretchers for transportation.

Accompanied by 80 to 90 family members, these individuals crossed the Rafah Border during a temporary truce between Israel and Hamas.

On arrival at Abu Dhabi International Airport, the Palestinians received a warm welcome from officials and ground staff.

Emirati officials comforted the elderly patients, many of whom seemed unable to express their gratitude adequately.

Presidential Initiative for Medical Assistance:

This humanitarian effort aligns with the initiative announced by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan earlier this month.

The initiative aims to bring 1,000 Palestinian cancer patients for treatment in UAE hospitals. Additionally, medical care is directed towards 1,000 Palestinian children and their families from the Gaza Strip.

This recent flight follows a prior mission on November 18, where over 50 passengers, including wounded individuals, medical staff, and high-ranking officials, landed in Abu Dhabi.

The urgency of the evacuation efforts persists amidst the escalating Israel-Hamas conflict in the Gaza Strip.

Efficient Operation:

The latest flight, focusing on cancer patients, was executed over a two-day operation.

A team of UAE medical experts and officials departed for the Egyptian city of Al Arish on Sunday, emphasizing the ongoing commitment to alleviating the suffering of those affected by the conflict.
