Erica Robin Makes History as First Pakistani at Miss Universe 2023

Karachi-based model Erica Robin has etched her name in history as the first Pakistani national to participate in the 72nd Miss Universe pageant.
Out of 84 participants, the 25-year-old made it to the Top 20, showcasing her talent and beauty on the international stage. The competition occurred in San Salvador, El Salvador, on November 18.
Christian Community’s Pride: Miss Universe Pakistan 2023:
Hailing from Pakistan’s Christian community, Erica Robin was crowned “Miss Universe Pakistan” in September, marking a significant milestone for the pageant and her community. This recognition highlights the diversity and inclusivity in representing Pakistani beauty on the global platform.
During the swimsuit round, Robin made a unique style statement wearing a light pink kaftan designed by Rubin Singer, setting her apart from other contestants.
In the national costume segment, she donned a richly embroidered black and magenta ensemble named ‘Pehchaan,’ symbolizing the identity of Pakistan’s rich culture and history.
For the evening gown segment, Robin chose a bejeweled white gown by Amato Couture, complemented by a floor-length head veil.
Modelling Journey and Career Beginnings:
Erica Robin began modeling in 2020, gaining recognition with her appearance in Diva Magazine Pakistan.
Her journey to the Miss Universe stage reflects her dedication and rapid rise in the world of fashion and beauty.
After the pageant concluded, Robin shared a heartfelt video documenting her Miss Universe journey, expressing gratitude to her team for their support and training.
In a touching post, she paid homage to her home country, stating, “To Pakistan – it’s an honor to represent you with modesty, respect, and pride. I love you all!”
Diverse Participants and Historic Wins at Miss Universe 2023:
Apart from Erica Robin’s historic participation, other notable achievements marked this year’s Miss Universe pageant. Jane Dipika Garrett of Nepal became the first plus-size contestant.
At the same time, Camila Avella of Colombia made history as the first married woman and mother to participate since rule changes in August 2022.
Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua was crowned Miss Universe 2023, securing the first-ever win for Nicaragua in the prestigious competition.
