Dubai’s Hydroelectric Power Plant to Introduce Major Eco-Tourism Attractions

At the 25th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition, the DEWA displayed ambitious eco-tourism destinations.

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) showcased ambitious eco-tourism attractions at the 25th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition.

Among them are the Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls project and a 5.4-kilometer cable car set to elevate the tourist experience upon completing the Hydroelectric Power Plant in Hatta.

Unique Attractions for Visitors:

The Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls project promises an immersive experience, blending clean energy sources with nature immersion education.

The hydropower plant’s upper dam slope will ingeniously house a waterfall, utilizing water recycling techniques to sustainably power the plant while creating a scenic attraction.

Four oases interconnected by bridges along a water canal, leading to a balanced natural aquatic life lake, are integral to the Waterfalls project.

The project aims to captivate tourists and families with amenities such as fish breeding, children’s play areas, and dining spots.

Cultural Tributes and Natural Marvels:

Designed in a hexagonal beehive pattern reminiscent of Hatta honey, the Waterfalls project will also pay homage to the UAE’s founding fathers, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

The Dubai Mountain Peak cable car, spanning 5.4 kilometers, will traverse the stunning landscape, passing over Hatta Dam Lake and reaching the Um Al-Nesoor summit at 1,300 meters above sea level, offering a breathtaking aerial view of Dubai’s highest natural summit.

Economic Boost and Job Opportunities:

While the completion timeline remains undisclosed, the Waterfalls project’s estimated cost is Dh46 million.

Dewa plans to tender the construction of the Dubai Mountain Peak cable car, contributing to job creation and local economic development in Hatta, with Emiratis benefiting from retail store spaces offered free of cost by Dewa.
