Dubai Ride Takes Over Sheikh Zayed Road: Road Closures and Event Details

A section of Sheikh Zayed Road will be blocked to vehicular traffic between the Trade Centre roundabout to the Safa Park junction (2nd interchange).

On the morning of November 12, a stretch of Sheikh Zayed Road, from the Trade Centre roundabout to Safa Park interchange (2nd interchange), will be closed to vehicular traffic. 

The annual Dubai Ride cycling event, a key feature of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, will transform this iconic highway into a cyclist’s haven.

Road Closures and Alternative Routes:

In addition to Sheikh Zayed Road, Lower Financial Centre Street, and Trade Centre Street will also be off-limits to motorists during the event. 

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) advises drivers to plan their journeys. 

Alternative routes suggested by the RTA include Al Hadiqa Street, Al Wasl Street, Al Khail Road, Al Meydan Street, Al Asayel Street, 2nd Zaa’beel Street, 2nd December Street, and Al Mustaqbal Street.

Event Timing and Route Highlights:

Dubai Ride is scheduled to commence at 6.15 am and conclude at 8.15 am. The cycling event offers two routes catering to riders of all skill levels. 

Participants will pedal past Dubai’s iconic landmarks, including the Museum of the Future, Dubai Water Canal, Burj Khalifa, and other attractions along Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai.

Dubai Fitness Challenge Background:

Dubai Ride is a flagship event of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC), inaugurated in 2017 by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. 

The DFC promotes a healthy and active lifestyle among residents and visitors.

Record-Breaking Participation in Previous Editions:

The 2022 Dubai Ride anticipates a significant turnout, building on the success of previous editions. Last year, the event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 34,897 cyclists, underscoring its growing popularity among the community.

As Dubai transforms its bustling Sheikh Zayed Road into a cyclist-friendly zone for the annual Dubai Ride, the city embraces a healthy lifestyle and community engagement through the Dubai Fitness Challenge. 

Motorists are advised to heed road closures and plan alternative routes, ensuring a smooth flow of the cycling event and regular traffic.
