Dubai Resident Prepares to Set World Record in 600km Charity Cycle

Jimmy Wright, a Dubai resident and Australian expat, is preparing to cycle 600 kilometers from Saudi Arabia to the UAE.

Dubai resident and Australian expat Jimmy Wright is gearing up for a challenging 600km cycling journey from Saudi Arabia to the UAE, aiming to establish a new Guinness World Record while raising Dh1 million in funds for cancer treatment.

A Noble Mission for Childhood Cancer:

Jimmy’s primary goal is not just to break a world record but to raise awareness and critical funds for treating children fighting cancer. His efforts are dedicated to the noble cause through the Dubai-based Al Jalila Foundation.

Jimmy’s motivation for this initiative stems from his wife, Abbie, battle with breast cancer.

Her triumphant journey to being declared cancer-free serves as a powerful reminder of their fundraising mission.

Inspiring a Project through Personal Experience:

During his wife’s fight against cancer, Jimmy was inspired to help children understand their parents’ battles against the disease, leading to the birth of this fundraising project.

Jimmy underwent a rigorous three-month training program to prepare for this extraordinary challenge, incorporating a mix of long, steady rides and high-intensity sessions to enhance his physical fitness and endurance.

The Fundraising Objective:

Jimmy aims to collect Dh1 million to extend the treatment for approximately 20 children suffering from cancer. Every penny raised will be directed exclusively toward extending treatment, ensuring these children receive the necessary care.

Jimmy’s project has received outstanding support from various organizations and institutions, including Brighton College Dubai, which conducted a successful fundraising event.

Students organized a “run for a reason” event, raising over Dh19,000 to support the cause.
