Dubai Airport Introduces Enhanced Smart Gates for Quick Immigration

Dubai International Airport (DXB) has introduced an enhanced smart gate system that allows residents arriving at and departing from Terminal 3 to clear passport control in seconds. 

The updated smart gates feature facial recognition technology, making the immigration process swift and contactless. 

This innovation is part of Dubai’s commitment to enhancing traveler experiences and ensuring efficient airport operations.

Enhanced Smart Gates at DXB Terminal 3:

Dubai International Airport has implemented an advanced smart gate system featuring facial recognition technology at Terminal 3. 

As a result, passengers arriving at or departing from DXB can experience expedited immigration procedures. There are five enhanced smart gates available for passengers to use.

The smart gates utilize optical and facial prints for identification, allowing travelers to bypass traditional passport scanning. 

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) has played a key role in implementing this technology.

Registration Process and Ease of Use:

Residents interested in using the enhanced smart gates must register with their passport or Emirates ID at DXB Terminal 3. 

The registration process is straightforward and can be completed at the GDRFA-Dubai stand during Gitex Global, which runs until Friday, October 20. 

After registration, passengers can access the innovative service during their next flight.

The smart gate procedure is efficient and user-friendly. Passengers must approach the smart gate and look at the green light (camera) for facial recognition. 

There is no requirement to scan any identification documents. However, travelers should have their passport or boarding pass on hand in case they are needed.

To ensure accurate facial recognition, passengers should remove any items covering their faces, such as glasses, face masks, or hats. 

The enhanced smart gates eliminate the need for physical document checks, enhancing the speed and convenience of the immigration process.
