Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, the President-Designate of Cop28 and the UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, as well as Special Envoy on Climate Change, has underscored the enormous challenge the world faces in safeguarding vulnerable areas like the Arctic Circle from the most severe consequences of climate change. 

He made this call for global unity to advance environmental objectives during his keynote address at the opening session of the Arctic Circle Assembly in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Dr. Al Jaber emphasized that climate change is causing the Arctic to warm at a rate four times faster than the rest of the world.
