National Flag Day was introduced by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to commemorate the accession of HH Sheikh Khalifa as President of the UAE in 2004. 

The day serves as a poignant reminder of the nation’s unity and the enduring legacy of its forefathers.

While not a public holiday, Flag Day kickstarts the UAE National Day festivities. Across the country, residents adorn their homes, offices, and shops with the UAE flag, showcasing their national pride.
