Attention Drivers: New Speed Limit Alert for Dubai-Sharjah Commuters

Commencing November 20, motorists traveling between Dubai and Sharjah via Al Ittihad Road must adhere to a new speed limit to avoid substantial fines, potentially reaching up to Dh3,000.
The revised speed limit will decrease from 100kmph to 80kmph on a significant stretch of the road.
Urgent Caution for Drivers:
Authorities urge drivers to exercise caution and observe the new speed limit meticulously.
New traffic signs will be installed along the specified stretch, extending from the Sharjah-Dubai border on Al Ittihad Road to Al Garhoud Bridge.
Strict Penalties for Speeding Violations:
Speeding violations in the UAE carry serious penalties outlined in the federal traffic law.
Fines range from Dh300 to Dh3,000, contingent on the extent to which a driver surpasses the speed limit.
The penalties also involve the accumulation of black points and, in certain cases, vehicle confiscation.
Guide to Speeding Fines:
- Exceeding the limit by up to 20kmph: Dh300 fine
- Exceeding the limit by up to 30kmph: Dh600 fine
- Exceeding the limit by up to 40kmph: Dh700 fine
- Exceeding the limit by up to 50kmph: Dh1,000 fine
- Exceeding the limit by up to 60kmph: Dh1,500 fine, 6 black points, and 15-day confiscation
- Exceeding the limit by over 60kmph: Dh2,000 fine, 12 black points, and 30-day confiscation
- Exceeding the limit by over 80kmph: Dh3,000 fine, 23 black points, and 60-day confiscation
Additionally, driving below the minimum speed limit set for the road incurs a Dh400 fine.
This announcement serves as a crucial reminder for all drivers to stay informed about and adhere to the updated speed regulations to ensure road safety and avoid penalties.
