Apple Unveils New MacBook Pro, iMac with GPUs and M3 Chips

Apple has introduced new MacBook Pro and iMac computers, along with three new chips – M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max – to power these devices.
The company emphasized the redesign of its graphics processing units (GPUs), which is a crucial element of the chip and is a domain where Nvidia has a strong presence.
Availability and Pricing in the UAE:
In the UAE, the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops, as well as the new iMac desktops featuring the M3 family of chips, are available for pre-order, with sales commencing on November 7.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro models are priced between Dh6,899 and Dh13,539, depending on specifications. Meanwhile, the 16-inch models range from Dh10,499 to Dh16,799.
The new iMac desktop with the M3 family of chips starts at Dh5,499 and goes up to Dh7,179. Apple offers monthly installment options for buyers.
Market Share Growth and Focus on Business Users:
Apple has experienced significant growth in its Mac business, nearly doubling its market share to almost 11 percent since 2020, when it transitioned from Intel to using its custom-designed chips for Mac computers.
The company showcased a new secure screen-sharing feature targeted at business users, allowing them to access their machines remotely.
Custom-Designed Apple Silicon Chips:
Apple’s custom-designed chips, utilizing Arm Holdings’ design technology, have provided Macs with improved battery life and, for certain tasks, superior performance compared to machines running Microsoft’s Windows operating system.
Apple’s chips combine the central processor unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) in a single package, resulting in claimed performance superiority.
Competitive Landscape:
Apple’s impact on the market has prompted companies like Qualcomm and Nvidia to invest in Arm-based chips for Windows and PCs, seeking to compete with Apple’s offerings.
Throughout the event, Apple highlighted the enhanced performance of the new MacBook and iMac machines compared to older models featuring Intel chips, emphasizing the noticeable speed improvements for customers upgrading to devices powered by Apple’s chips.
