Lukaku’s remarkable feat unfolded during the game as he showcased his scoring prowess. He began by heading in a cross from Jeremy Doku, capitalizing on an advantage after Eddy Israfilov was sent off. He swiftly followed up with a powerful strike from Timothy Castagne’s setup. 

Lukaku continued his goal-scoring spree by nodding in a cross from Wout Faes and converting another opportunity from Orel Mangala’s delivery. Remarkably, he achieved all this before being substituted at half-time.

Leandro Trossard added a late fifth goal for Belgium, highlighting the cohesive play of the team. It’s noteworthy that all five goals were facilitated by players based in England, showcasing their significant contribution to Belgium’s resounding victory.

This monumental achievement marked Lukaku’s first-ever international quadruple, a distinction he had previously accomplished once in his club career during Everton’s 6-3 Premier League win over Bournemouth in February 2017.
