Abu Dhabi Establishes Council to Lead AI and Advanced Technology Initiatives
A New Era of Technological Governance
Abu Dhabi has made a significant leap forward in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technology by setting up a dedicated council aimed at overseeing the development and execution of policies in these sectors.
Leadership and Vision
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, in his capacity as Ruler of Abu Dhabi, has issued a law to establish the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC). The council’s creation demonstrates the emirate’s strategic focus on being at the forefront of technological innovation and governance.
The Council’s Mandate
Chaired by Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as Vice-Chairman, the AIATC is tasked with formulating and implementing strategies related to research, infrastructure, and investments in AI and advanced technology sectors.
Building the Economy of the Future
The council will play a pivotal role in enhancing Abu Dhabi’s status as a global hub for investments, partnerships, and talent within the technology sector. This aligns with the broader vision of transitioning to a post-hydrocarbon economy, ensuring sustainable growth and diversification.
The AIATC will collaborate with both local and international entities to develop research programs and plans. These partnerships are intended to advance Abu Dhabi’s position in the fields of AI and technology, fostering an environment conducive to innovation and knowledge exchange.
Towards a Sustainable Future
This initiative is part of a larger strategy to build a resilient, diversified economy. By focusing on advanced technology and AI, Abu Dhabi is setting the stage for a future where technological leadership drives economic and societal progress.
The establishment of the AIATC represents Abu Dhabi’s commitment to shaping a future that is innovative, technologically advanced, and economically diversified. It’s a bold step towards realizing the vision of a knowledge-based, sustainable economy.
