Expanding Free Wi-Fi Access

Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport is rolling out free public Wi-Fi, named “Hala Wi-Fi,” across the emirate, extending coverage to various public spaces, including buses and parks. The Abu Dhabi Media Office confirmed this initiative, emphasizing its citywide accessibility.

Broadened Connectivity

The Hala Wi-Fi initiative aims to fortify Abu Dhabi’s smart city endeavors by offering comprehensive internet coverage, aligning with the city’s digital infrastructure advancement goals.

Previous and Concurrent Wi-Fi Initiatives

Previously, free Wi-Fi services were accessible exclusively on the emirate’s bus fleet. 

Additionally, WiFi UAE, a program linked to UAE Vision 2021 and managed by du, enables individuals with an Emirates phone number to access essential online services such as emails, government websites, social media apps, and messaging platforms for a duration of one hour without charge.

Ubiquitous Access Points

WiFi UAE’s availability extends across Dubai’s prominent public areas, transportation networks including RTA Taxis, and the Dubai Metro, ensuring widespread accessibility and connectivity for residents and visitors alike.
